Jan 17, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Hansen Medical, Inc., a developer of intravascular robotics, has appointed Robert Cathcart as the new senior vice president, global sales. Mr Cathcart will report directly to Bruce Barclay, president and CEO.

Mr Cathcart has senior sales management experience in both domestic and international roles in the medical technology industry with large and small companies.

From 2001 to 2009, Mr Cathcart worked at Datascope Corporation (acquired by Maquet), where he served as the division president and vice president of sales in the Cardiac Assist Division, and later the President of the Interventional Products Division.

Prior to joining Hansen Medical, Mr Cathcart served as the chief commercial officer of surgical medical device start-up, HyperBranch Medical Technology, where he was responsible for all sales and marketing in international markets, including Europe, South America and Asia Pacific.
