With their advanced combination of sensors, processing power, display and network connectivity, Apple smartphones and tablets provide everything required to work as compact, powerful robotic systems. The technology is already promoting new innovations in robotics, and many experts are working to capitalize on the coming wave of highly sought automatons.
Recently, robotics company, Quantum International announced that the company was targeting the developers of advanced robots controlled using Apple (AAPL) mobile devices. This includes the iPhone and iPad.
Mobile devices have great potential as robotics interfaces which has been proven by new products such as Orbotix’s Sphero toy and Parrot's AR.Drone 2.0 quadrocopter. Quantum International is currently looking at early-stage developers for acquisition and joint venture. According to the company, these can create new robotics inventions that make use of Apple’s user-friendly mobile technology.
Around the world, Quantum is already pursuing interesting new robotics targets. The company recently signed a letter of intent and began due diligence toward a definitive agreement with the Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements (PIAP) in Warsaw, Poland, the company stated in a press release.
“The iPhone and iPad were breakthrough products that created their own market,” said Quantum CEO, Robert Federowicz in a company press release. “The market for these devices didn’t exist before they arrived. We believe the same will soon be said for the incredible robotics innovations using the same technology that are now on the drawing board.”
