For gadget buffs, this is one of the greatest times of the year. Not only did they just land a passel of great gadgets thanks to a combination of holiday sales and end-of-the-year clearance sales, but with the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) only a few days away, rumors about what spectacular devices will show up at the big event are flying hot and fast ahead of the show's opening.
Then, of course, the truest possible word will be unveiled. But for right now, new reports have emerged about Samsung bringing out a new robotic vacuum in the grandest Roomba style, but with some very noteworthy new twists.

It might surprise some to even hear that Samsung is involved with robot vacuums, but this one--the Samsung Smart Tango Corner Clean--is going to be something else. It's got a "world's-first" to its credit in the form of a pair of pop-out spinning brushes designed to pull assorted chunks out of corners for easier collection by the main disc. This may not sound like a world's-first, but reportedly, the Samsung brand distinguishes itself by having significantly better reach when it comes to pulling stuff out of corners.
Early pictures reveal that the Smart Tango Corner Clean also comes with a camera, a built-in display and several control buttons mounted on the device itself. It's been projected that the camera is designed to work with the Samsung Visionary Mapping System, a system that gives robot vacuums an advantage when it comes to sweeping up by letting them see where they're going. Prices and release dates on this model are unclear, but it's expected that Samsung will have a little more to say about this on January 8 at the Las Vegas CES event when they have their company event.
Samsung has actually been working with home cleaning devices like this one for some time now, under the Navibot brand, in Europe, so seeing them go to a wider release isn't really out of line. There are plenty of Roomba owners out there who might be looking to upgrade, as well as those looking for a robot vacuum for the first time, so Samsung may have a good way to break into a wider market with the Smart Tango Corner Clean. Fullest details on this one should be out with CES next week, so hopefully Samsung will fill in the blanks.
